£566k follow-on award for research into personalising cancer therapy

Abstract

The new UKRI FLF award extends the personalised modelling approaches being pioneered in the Mitchell lab towards clinical use in multiple malignancies.

Date

University of Sussex and BSMS

Dr Simon Mitchell has secured a three-year UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellowship Renewal Award. His research combines computer modelling and lab experiments to personalise cancer treatment. During their Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF), Dr Mitchell’s team previously predicted which lymphoma patients might not respond to standard therapies. This new funding will test the approach in other cancers.

You can work on this project as we are recruiting a postdoc.

My primary research focus is in understanding how intracellular, molecular signalling networks control immune cell fate, and how misregulation of these molecular networks leads to haematological malignancies. My combination of immunology and haematological training lead to a particular interest in B-cell lymphomas.
